2008 Lithuanian Ice-Blokart Open Championship

The 2008 Lithuanian Ice Blokart open is over.

Here is a report from Matas Mizgiris about this event..

Lithuanian Ice-Blokart opens has finished! This proved to be a real European Ice-Blokarting Championship as less than a quarter of participants were lithuanians. 6 british, 4 dutch, 3 estonians and 4 lithuanians totaly 17 pilots were competing in 2 weight divisions. Lightweight division (<85 kg) comprised 11 participants and was divided into 2 subdivisions. Saturday with 10–14 m/s wind had almost the ideal condition to ice-blokart. Heavyweight pilots had their all 8 heats on Saturday, because there was a drop in a wind forecasted for Sunday. Sunday morning 6 best pilots from 2 lightweights subdivisions met for the final races. 5 heats were carried out in very light winds (4–6 m/s).

The event was closed by the awards ceremony and the expectancy was expressed that the World Ice-Blokart Championship will be carried out in 2009 in the Baltics. Lithuanian capital Vilnius is going to be the Cultural Capital of the Europe in the Year 2009, so maybe Trakai will host the biggest Ice-Blokarting event? Prize winners of the Championship:

  1. Matas Mizgiris (Lithuania) 7 pts
